Frequently asked questions.

I take pride in customizing and designing your cosmetic tattoo specifically to compliment your features, and part of that is having clear and open communication. Feel free to email me at any time to ask questions about a procedure. I use Tina Davies and Permablend pigments for my cosmetic tattoo and microblading procedures. All services are performed with sterile, pre-packaged single use equipment and needles. We keep our space exceptionally clean and up to health code standards.

Who is a good candidate for cosmetic tattooing?

Anyone who is looking to reduce the amount of time they spend getting ready in the mornings, those who have Alopecia, those who have watery eyes or allergies, and those who are active and would like sweat/waterproof natural looking makeup. There are many reasons people choose to get a cosmetic tattoo, those are just a few examples.

How long does cosmetic tattooing last?

The longevity of a cosmetic tattoo varies greatly due to many different factors such as age, skin elasticity, pore size, skin type, etc. Unfortunately this makes it very hard to estimate how long a cosmetic tattoo lasts. Generally, microblading is more semi-permanent than the other services I offer, lasting anywhere from 6 months to 5 years. My other services done with a cosmetic tattoo machine vary greatly on longevity from person to person, which makes it hard to give a clear estimate.

How old do I have to be to get tattooed?

You must be 18 and older to get a cosmetic tattoo service done by me. Please bring your id to your appointment.

How many sessions will I need?

Two treatments are recommended for microblading. The first appointment focuses on general shape and structure, while the second appointment focuses on adding density and detail. Eyeliner and lip blushing may also benefit from a second session.

Is cosmetic tattooing painful?

Although topical numbing products are used, most clients will still experience a bit of discomfort. The topical numbing agent takes a while to fully kick in, so generally the pain will be reduced as the appointment goes on. Everyone experiences pain differently, so some clients feel barely any pain, while others may be more sensitive.

How will I look immediately after my procedure?

Generally there will be some redness and swelling to the area after your cosmetic tattoo service. The pigment will get darker over the next few days, then it will look dry and flakey before settling into the skin and healing after around 10-14 days.

How can I take care of my cosmetic tattoo in the long term?

I recommend using sunscreen to protect exposure from uv rays which can cause premature fading. Besides that, you can moisturize it, and avoid putting acids and retinols on the area near your cosmetic tattoo.

Can I get an MRI with a cosmetic tattoo?

Yes, but I recommend telling the technician that you have a cosmetic tattoo before getting an MRI so that extra caution is taken. This shouldn't be a problem.

For additional information, I suggest reading over my instructions for before and after your procedure, which illustrate some of the care considerations involved in healing and caring for your cosmetic tattoo.

Policies

You are required to bring a valid id with you on the day of your service. I cannot work on those under 18. Unfortunately, if you forget your id, you will be asked to reschedule and a $50 re-booking fee may apply.

Deposit-

I ask for a non-refundable $100 deposit to hold appointments. The deposit will be applied to the total cost of your service.

Everyone's skin is different and a variety of factors such as age, skin elasticity, pore size, skin type, sun exposure, etc affect how microblading or cosmetic tattooing heals and ages on the skin. Because of this, no specific guarantees can be made and certain clients may need additional sessions to achieve the desired results (fees apply).

In person consultations are not currently available at this time, but if you have read over the frequently asked questions and still have unanswered questions, you are welcome to e-mail me at plumebrows@gmail.com. I allot time during the initial appointment to talk my clients through the process, answer any questions, and consult with them about shape, color, and style.

Cancellation/No Show Policy-

I require 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. If notice is not given before then, I will have to keep the non-refundable deposit that was paid.

Late Policy-

If you are more than 20 minutes late, your appointment may have to be rescheduled and I will keep the non-refundable deposit that was paid. Please plan in advance to calculate travel time and ensure time to find parking (street parking is available).

I am not able to work on people who are pregnant or nursing.

For previously tattooed/microbladed clients with other artist's work-

If you have previously gotten cosmetic tattooing done by another artist, please email me pictures at plumebrows@gmail.com to confirm that I am able to work with you. I charge full price to touch up or cover any previous cosmetic tattooing not done by me.

Before your appointment.

-Please do not consume Advil, niacin, vitamin e, fish oil supplements, alcohol or any other blood-thinning substances for 24 hours before your appointment.

-You must not be using retinol on the area of the procedure 2 weeks before the appointment.

-You must not be on Accutane at least 6 months before the appointment.

-Please exfoliate the brow area or face with a physical or chemical exfoliant of your choice the night before your brow or freckle appointment.

-Please avoid waxing, threading, and plucking one week before the appointment.

-I advise giving yourself two weeks after any botox or filler appointment to book your cosmetic tattoo appointment.

-Topical numbing products are used to minimize discomfort, however, if you feel you are sensitive to pain, I recommend taking a Tylenol before your appointment. Extra sensitivity during your menstrual is also common.

-I recommend washing your hair before the appointment, as you should avoid getting your tattoo wet for the first 48 hours.

-If you draw in your eyebrows, you may do so for your appointment. Reference Photos are also encouraged.

-Please familiarize yourself with the policies and FAQ before your appointment.

After your appointment.

-Avoid getting the procedure area wet until the 2nd day of healing. On the 2nd day, you can begin gently washing your cosmetic tattoo or microblading with a fragrance free soap or face cleanser. Starting on day 4, follow up with a thin layer of a fragrance free cream or moisturizer 1-2 times a day for 10 days. Make sure you wash your hands with an antibacterial soap before applying soap and moisturizer to the area.

-Avoid touching or scratching the procedure area. If you wear glasses, clean them daily. If you wear a mask over the area you've gotten tattooed, make sure to buy disposable masks and wear a clean one every day for 10 days.

-Make sure you have a clean pillow case during the healing process.

-Do not schedule any beauty treatments such as massages, facials, lash extensions, or waxing for 2 weeks after your appointment.

-Avoid going into the sun for extended amounts of time. If it is necessary, wear a hat. Avoid putting sunscreen on the area for 10 days after the procedure.

-Avoid submerging your head under water. This includes baths, hot tubs, pools, and saunas.

-Please do not put any strong products or makeup on or around your cosmetic tattoo while it's healing. Avoid acids, peels, and Retinol on your cosmetic tattoo after it's healed to avoid premature fading of pigment.

-Swelling and redness may last a few days after your appointment.

-If you experience any excess itching, blistering, tenderness, pus, elevated body temperature, or any other complications, contact your technician immediately at plumebrows@gmail.com.
